Postdoctoral Professional Development Advising Pilot Program

Individual Advising Appointments for Postdoctoral Fellows

A program has been established by the Office for Postdoctoral Affairs to offer individual general professional development counseling to Harvard postdocs in FAS, the Cambridge professional schools, HSPH, and quad postdocs at HMS.

Topic areas for which postdocs may request an appointment include the following:
-- Curriculum vitae/resume review and critique
-- Identification of resources for career and professional development exploration
-- Brainstorming about career possibilities inside and outside academia
-- Consideration of changing career trajectory with associated self-assessment exercises
-- Advising on job search strategies for both academic and nonacademic jobs
-- Follow up conversations for further examination
